SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES
One of EFSA’s key roles is to disseminate its scientific output , including scientific opinions, supporting publications, multimedia materials and communication campaigns, through a range of platforms and repositories such as EFSA Journal, Food Risk Assess Europe (FRAE), Knowledge Junction (KJ), as well as through its website.
EFSA Journal
EFSA publishes all its scientific outputs, including scientific opinions, in the EFSA Journal.
In addition, EFSA produces a series of Supporting Publications, which provide information on scientific assessments and scientific events. A list of definitions of Scientific Outputs and Supporting Publications is available via the link below. You may also subscribe to receive the latest EFSA updates and email alerts.
Food Risk Assess Europe (FRAE)
FRAE is an open-access scientific journal that brings together selected articles from national food safety agencies across the EU.
Complementing the EFSA Journal, FRAE aims to promote collaboration and provide a stronger evidence base for the EU risk assessment community. National agencies can publish their scientific assessments in FRAE, increasing their visibility and contributing to European food safety through a shared knowledge approach.
Knowledge Junction
Knowledge Junction, hosted on Zenodo and overseen by EFSA, is an open platform for accessing and publishing scientific evidence and supporting materials used in food safety risk assessments.
Its aim is to enhance transparency, reproducibility and reusability of information. The platform includes databases, models, reports, reviews and other supporting materials used in risk assessment.
Anyone may request the publication of resources, which are reviewed within the Knowledge Junction community prior to publication. Each item receives a DOI and includes metadata recognising authorship, together with a usage licence.
Multimedia resources
EFSA produces a wide range of multimedia materials to engage with citizens and facilitate understanding of its work. These include communication campaigns, data visualisation tools, factsheets, infographics, podcasts and videos, all available on EFSA’s website under the Newsroom section.
