Block II: Programmes for the control of food information and composition

 

This block is designed to comply with strategic objective 2.2:


STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 2.2: To improve compliance with legislation in order that food products made available to consumers contain the food safety information established in the legal provisions.


Block II includes programmes covering the control of food information and composition through inspection and food sampling and analysis. These programmes include controls on general and nutritional information and the presence of additives, irradiated products, allergens, genetically modified organisms and food supplements.

It is a priority of the competent authorities to ensure that consumers are duly informed regarding food the food they consume and/or buy and the materials and objects that make contact with it. For that reason, this block has been developed for the first time in PNCOCA 2016–2020.

With these programmes, the authorities check compliance with all regulations regarding consumer information, guaranteeing that corrective measures will be taken if operators are found not to be compliant.

The results of the implementation of these programmes are reported annually in the annual report of the results of official controls.
