Research group on Nutrition and Obesity
Description:
Recognised by the Basque Government as a research group of excellence within the Basque university system. Member of CIBER Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBERobn), a network of biomedical research centres funded by the Institute of Health Carlos III.
Teaching:
The group's members teach Graduate Degree courses in Pharmacy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Food Technology, and Post-Graduate Degree courses in Nutrition and Health, Healthy Ageing and Quality of Life and Public Health at the University of the Basque Country.
Research:
These are our lines of research:
- The effect of bio-active molecules on obesity, resistance to insulin and fatty liver disease.
- The Mediterranean diet. We are participating in the Predimed and Predimed-Plus trials.
- Dietary habits.
- Search of new bio-markers for diagnosis, prognosis, and response to dietary treatments.

Consultation on novel ingredients and functional foods.
Consumer surveys on food in different population groups.
