Research group on dietary exposure to environmental contaminants (EXPODIET)

Description:

The research group (AGR-255 ExpoDiet) of the University of Granada is made up of researchers from different areas with the main objective of studying human exposure to endocrine disruptors. Within this line, work is being done on the optimization of new analytical methodologies for the determination of disruptors in food samples and in human biological samples. Likewise, the group leads different epidemiological studies that evaluate the impact of exposure to these compounds on human health. The main lines of research focus on the study of obesity and child neurodevelopment. In addition to providing scientific support at a national and international level, the group offers nutritional education programs and works on different didactic materials to prevent and disseminate scientific evidence to the entire population.

Teaching:

Researchers belonging to the ExpoDiet research group teach degrees in Pharmacy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Medicine, Chemistry and Biochemistry. Likewise, the researchers teach in the master's degrees in Advances in Food Quality and Technology, Human Nutrition, Chemical Sciences and Technologies, Translational Research and Personalized Medicine, among others.

Investigation:

The different lines of research in which they are currently working could be summarized in the estimation of exposure to Endocrine Disruptors and their effect on obesity and neurodevelopment in children, considering the role of the microbiota and genetic polymorphisms in this effect.

Services:

Analysis of endocrine disruptors in food and human samples.

Advice on conducting a survey to assess exposure to endocrine disruptors.

Development of epidemiological studies that estimate the effect of exposure to endocrine disruptors on neurodevelopment and childhood obesity.
