María Roser Vila Casanovas

 

PhD in Pharmacy. Professor of the Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Therapeutics Unit of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences at the University of Barcelona.

Her lines of research focus on the chemistry, biological activity and quality control of medicinal plants and derived products. She has researched in the field of essential oils, flavonoids, polysaccharides and other chemical groups. She has conducted studies on the anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antioxidant and immunomodulatory actions of various plant species.

She is the author of more than 100 research papers, most published in international journals, as well as several book chapters on medicinal plants and phytotherapy, and has presented more than 160 papers to congresses.

She is a founding member of the Spanish Society of Phytotherapy (SEFIT), as well as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Phytotherapy. She is a corresponding academic of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia.
