Magdalena Rafecas Martínez

 

PhD in Pharmacy. Full Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology of the University of Barcelona. She holds a Diploma in Public Health, and is an auditor of the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC).

She is a member of the LIBIFOOD research group on lipids and bioactive compounds in the food chain.

She has extensive research experience in the field of fatty acids, lipids, the bioactive compounds oxysterols and phytosterols, especially with regard to their analysis, and the nutritional study of foods and food supplements. She holds a PhD in Pharmacy. She is a Professor of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Barcelona. Her main lines of research are on the pharmacology of plant-based natural products; the study of the anti-inflammatory activity and mechanism of action of phenolic compounds from medicinal plants; the study of the antimicrobial activity of medicinal plants, their extracts and essential oils; and the isolation and identification of pharmacologically active plant products.
