Concepción María Aguilera García

 

Professor Aguilera graduated in Pharmacy in 1995 from the University of Granada. She obtained the degree of PhD in 1999. Graduate in Food Science and Technology and Diploma in Nutrition from the School of Nutrition at the University of Granada. She completed her postdoctoral stay at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom from 2000 to 2003, receiving a scholarship from the University of Granada and the Spanish Ministry of Education. She returned to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2 at the University of Granada, where she is currently working as a full Professor. Dr Aguilera is Secretary of the Spanish Society for Research in Nutrition and Food in Paediatrics (SEINAP), Vice-president of the Spanish Society of Nutrition (SEN) and member of the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO). She also belongs to national scientific networks, such as the CIBER Obesity and Nutrition Network (CIBEROBN), the Scientific Unit of Excellence on Exercise and Health (UCEES) at the University of Granada and the Puberty Translational Research Network (RED2022-134687-T).

She belongs to the Research Group of the Andalusian Regional Government CTS-461 "Biochemistry of Nutrition: Therapeutic implications" founded by Professor Ángel Gil. Her line of research focuses on the study of childhood obesity and its comorbidities. She has participated as a Principal Investigator in 7 public funding projects and in 8 research contracts with companies. She has a total of 120 scientific publications in journals with a recognised impact index, has been the editor of 3 books, one of them international, and has supervised 12 doctoral theses.
