Ángel Gutiérrez Fernández

 

PhD in Biology from the University of La Laguna. He is a Professor in the Area of Toxicology and Food Hygiene at the University of La Laguna.

Member of the Interuniversity Research Group of Environmental Toxicology and Food and Drug Safety and researcher of the Doctoral Programs of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Development and Quality of Life and Life Sciences of the University of La Laguna. His main lines of research focus on Food Toxicology and Risk Assessment derived from dietary exposure to pollutants. He has carried out various studies on toxicological, dietary and nutritional evaluation and determination of heavy metals in various food groups, matrices and populations. He has participated in 9 research projects, supervised 15 doctoral theses and published more than 190 articles in national and international journals.

He is a censor of multiple journals related to toxicology and indexed in JCR and belongs to the editorial board of several scientific journals. Corresponding academic of the Royal Academy of Medicine (district of the Canary Islands) since 2012.
