Undeclared milk ingredient in whey protein from the United Kingdom (ref. INF2017/0228)

On 7 March 2017, the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition was informed, through the Alert Network (RASFF) about a notification of information by the Health Authorities of the United Kingdom relating to the presence of an undeclared milk ingredient in whey protein from the United Kingdom.
The product concerned is a 500g whey protein (ZV Whey Protein 80) of the brand Zipvit Ltd. All batches and expiry dates of this product specifically are affected.
The product was sold to individuals over the Internet. The distributor located in the United Kingdom has contacted all its clients by e-mail to inform them about it.
This Agency has proceeded to inform all Competent Authorities about these facts through the national Food Alert Network (SCIRI).
As a precautionary measure, it is recommended that those consumers who are allergic or intolerant to milk who may have had the abovementioned product in their homes, abstain from consuming it.
Additionally, it has been pointed out that consuming this product does not pose any risk for other consumers.
