21st Practical Nutrition Conference

The Executive Director of AECOSAN (Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition) took part yesterday in the opening ceremony of the 21st Practical Nutrition Conference held at the Faculty of Medicine in the Complutense University of Madrid on 5 and 6 April.
During her speech, the Director thanked the organisers for the invitation to the event, where the presence of AECOSAN year after year, demonstrates the commitment and the importance the Agency has given this well-established activity for more than 20 years. We are working to create and foster options and favourable environments for the adoption of sustainable changes in our lifestyles, both at individual and population level.
The actions of the NAOS Strategy, as a platform which aims to integrate all the public and private stakeholders in this area, have placed the Promotion of healthy eating habits and physical activity on the political agenda and on social agendas, in this way multiplying the visibility of the problem of obesity and the associated diseases. There have been multiple and noteworthy measures and achievements, seeking synergy and coordination with other administrations and sectors.
Also present at the inaugural address were Ignacio Lizasoain, Vice-chancellor of Scientific Policy, Research and Doctorate at the Complutense University in Madrid who chaired the opening; Juan Martínez, Director General of Public Health for the Community of Madrid; Jorge García, Vice-dean of Academic Planning at the Faculty of Medicine at the Complutense University; Sonia Lázaro, President of the Organising Committee (SPRIM); Jesús Román, President of the Healthy Eating Foundation; Enrique Pacheco, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Chiropody at the Complutense University and Antonio Villarino, President of the Congress.
