Criterios autorización

Criteria for authorising campaigns for food promotion, nutritional education or the promotion of sport or physical activity in nurseries and schools, with the aim of fostering healthy eating habits, encouraging physical activity and preventing obesity

Harmonised criteria for authorising the development of initiatives to promote diet, nutrition education or sport and physical activity in the school setting and guaranteeing that nurseries and schools are spaces protected from advertising.

The criteria were jointly established by the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition, under the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Regional Ministries of Health and Education of the Autonomous Communities, with the collaboration of CNIIE, to support a more uniform implementation of article 40.7 of Law 17/2011 on Food Safety and Nutrition.

The Criteria were passed on 29 July 2015 by the plenary of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System.

Consensus document on food in schools

The consensus document is a tool for managing the school meal service (head teachers, school councils, catering companies, etc.) in schools, allowing the successful implementation of the nutritional recommendations it makes for varied, balanced school meals adapted to the needs of each age group. The document also establishes nutritional criteria for the foods offered in vending machines, canteens and kiosks in schools.

The document’s recommendations are also taken into account by the regional competent authorities for health and education, which carry out important work in the monitoring, monitoring and control of school menus.

The documents were jointly drafted by AECOSAN, the Ministry of Education and the Regional Ministries of Health and Education. It is also supported by scientific associations of the Spanish Federation of Nutrition, Food and Dietetics Societies (FESNAD), the parents’ associations CEAPA and COFAPA, the Spanish Federation of Social Catering Associations (FEADRS), the Spanish Association of People with Allergies to Foods and Latex (AEPNAA) and the Spanish Federation of Coeliac Associations (FACE).

The document was passed on 21 July 2010 by the plenary of the Interterritorial Board of the National Health System and received legal support a year later through Law 17/2011 on Food Safety and Nutrition, of 5 July, which in Article 40 establishes special measures targeting the school environment.

Recomendaciones de Actividad Física

Physical activity recommendations for health and the reduction of sedentary lifestyles in the Spanish population (includes recommendations for people aged 0 to 17). Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy for the National Health System (2015) of the MSSSI. Incorporated into the NAOS Strategy in 2015

Within the framework of the Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Higher Council for Sport produced these recommendations on physical activity for health and the reduction of physical inactivity and screen time for the population as a whole.

These are national recommendations for all age groups, including children under the age of five.

The aim of the Recommendations is to make the public aware of the amount, intensity, frequency and duration of physical activity required to benefit health. They are based on scientific evidence and on existing international recommendations from the WHO, with a final aim of a more physically active population.

These recommendations, issued under the framework of the Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy for the National Health System, were incorporated into the framework of the NAOS Strategy by the AECOSAN Scientific Committee, in compliance with Article 36, point 2 of Law 17/2011, of 5 July, on Food Safety and Nutrition.
