In November, the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN) published on its Web 48 notifications received through the Alert Network because they may pose a serious risk to consumers. Of these, 11 were detected at the border and their import rejected, whereas a further 30 were withdrawn from the market and banned from trade.
For the remaining 7, it was the manufacturer who, as required by law, notified the consumer authorities of the existence of possible risks in their products took the necessary actions to reduce these.
MOST NOTIFIED PRODUCTS
Toys (26), children's fashion and accessories (5) and personal protection equipment (5) received the highest number of notifications. In the case of toys, due to the special monitoring to which they are subject by the inspection services as they are intended for a vulnerable population.
The risks posed are the consequence of the irregularities observed.
