Teresa Robledo, Executive Director of AECOSAN, opened today this conference, together with the Director General for Consumer Affairs and Trade, Sol Vázquez, and the President of the Board of Consumers and Users, Manuela López Besteiro.
The conference on the protection of minors and other vulnerable consumers on Internet was held in Santiago de Compostela and organised by the Board of Consumers and Users, the Directorate-General for Consumer Affairs and Trade and the Consellería de Cultura, Educación y Ordenación Universitaria de la Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government for Education and Universities in Galicia).
Digital reality is significantly modifying society and the business network. We are facing a scenario of radical change in the way in which we understand business processes, the approach of customers, and user relations.
The consumer is the central line of this digital transformation. Consequently, there are many challenges and many opportunities.
AECOSAN collaborates with all those entities who aim to distribute any type of recommendation for the safe use of technology, because it is a mission of the entire society to collaborate and be aware of the risks of the incorrect use of these technologies. These entities include the AEPD (Spanish Agency for the Protection of Data) or the INCIBE (National Cybersecurity Institute).
The Executive Director emphasised the importance of protecting consumers, guaranteeing their rights and offering the same guarantees as are available for face-to-face purchases. The population's use of information technologies is proportionately high, and therefore we must strive to ensure that browsing is safe.
Representatives from the Consumer Associations were present at the conference which was followed by a new plenary meeting of the Board of Consumers and Users.
