AECOSAN attended the conference organised by ASOZUMOS.

The event took place in Madrid, in the Skylight of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment (MAPAMA), bringing together numerous professionals from the sector.

The fruit and vegetable industry in Spain is one of the most important in the agri-food group, representing in 2016, 39 % of the Final Agrarian Production and up to 63 % of Vegetable Production.

Spain is a global power in the production and marketing of fruit and vegetables. There are approximately 1.5 million hectares of crops growing in Spain, of which 921,000 hectares are vegetables (38%), citrus fruits (34%) and other fruits (28 %).

Juan Julián García, Executive advisor of Communication and Institutional Relations at the Agency brought the event to a close on behalf of AECOSAN.

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of creating healthy habits, encouraging the consumption of five portions of fruit and vegetables per day from infancy, as this is essential for preventing childhood obesity and the development of non-communicable diseases in the different stages of life.

AECOSAN believes it is imperative to give support to all the measures being carried out, in accordance with the lines of work of the NAOS Strategy, which are aimed at reducing the consumption of sugar and promoting the consumption of fruit and vegetables, including juices, as a base for our diet.
