Delegation from Chile visits AECOSAN

Yesterday was the start of the three-day visit of the Chilean Delegation from ACHIPIA (Chilean Agency for Food Safety and Quality) to the premises of AECOSAN (Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food safety and Nutrition).
The Executive director, Teresa Robledo, welcomed the delegation and offered to provide any information of interest, even suggesting the possibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding in the future.
ACHIPIA is working on the project: “Introduction of an Integrated National System of Specialised High Standard Public Laboratories to strengthen the analytical and diagnostic capacities in food safety and quality”.

- Karla Carmona. Advisor from the Area of Risk Analysis Support. Chilean Agency for Food safety and Quality, ACHIPIA. Ministry of Agriculture
- Lorena Sulz. Deputy director of Research. School of Medicine. University of Santiago de Chile. USACH.
- Silvia Baeza. Veterinary surgeon from the department of Nutrition and Food. Public Policy Division. Ministry of Health.

The purpose of the visit is to establish channels of communication and the exchange of professional experiences. The Structure and functions of the Agency, our international role, relations with the EFSA, the Food Alert Network, the National Official Control Plan, Risk Management, are some of the areas discussed at the meeting.
The Delegation will then visit the National Food Centre in Majadahonda, where they will be met by the Director, Paloma Cervera, to find out about the operation of the centre and the techniques which are being developed.
On the last of the three days, they will visit the Public Health Laboratory of the Community of Madrid.
