The National Food Centre (CNA), as part of their duties as the National Reference Laboratory, has organised a training course intended for the Official Control Laboratories called “Determination of bisphenol A in foods by HPLC-FL and confirmation by LC-MS/MS”.

A reduction in the specific migration limit of bisphenol A is expected shortly. It is currently set at 0.6 mg/kg in Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and is due to be reduced to 0.05 mg/kg, including not only plastic materials, but also their coatings.

The objective of the theoretical and practical course, given by the Contaminants Service, is to help Official Control Laboratories to implement methodology for the determination of bisphenol A at low levels of concentration.

The course was held on 19-20 September and attended by 8 participants from official control laboratories from the different Autonomous Communities.
