Teresa Robledo, closed the Conference held to celebrate WMD (World Milk Day).
The event took place in Madrid, bringing together numerous professionals from the dairy industry, as it coincided with the 40th anniversary of FeNIL (National Federation of Dairy Industries).
The executive director was presented at the end of the conference by Luis Calabozo (Director General of FeNIL). During her speech, Ms Robledo gave thanks for the invitation to take part in the event and congratulated FeNIL on their 40th anniversary, underlining the magnificent work they carry out on a daily basis as economic stakeholders. This work undoubtedly provides a boost to the economic driver which we must all join and which must be reflected in the progress of Spanish society.
Ms Robledo went on to say that milk and dairy products should be everyday food, as reflected in food pyramid bases, such as the NAOS Pyramid, which lists recommendations for the frequency at which certain food groups should be consumed and for physical activity promoted by the NAOS Strategy of AECOSAN.
The current recommendation for milk and dairy products (yoghurt and cheese) is 2-3 portions per day, and are considered essential, particularly in children.
She also thanked the dairy sector for their collaboration in ensuring that the products they manufacture contribute to improving the diet of the population, by voluntary participating in agreements to reduce the content of certain nutrients including fats and sugars as part of the National Collaboration Plan for the Improvement of the Composition of Food and Beverages 2017-2020.
